Letter: Vote 'Yes' for the Jefferson school levy
By Eleanor Finn, Shepardstown Chronicle
As a former high school social studies teacher I can attest to the fact that schools and students benefit from having adequate resources.
The school system in Jefferson County has already had to deal with an unexpected mid-year state budget cut and further cuts would have a seriously negative impact.
West Virginia suffers from an undereducated population. If we are to see improved economic prospects for our state, we need to have educated workers to encourage employers to locate here.
This provides local jobs and may even permit people to work in the County rather than commute for hours per day.
Election Day, Dec. 12, voting takes place in your regular polling place, with some voting location exceptions in Shepherdstown (6:30 a.m.- 7:30 p.m.). If you have any questions about location, call the County Clerk's Office (304)728-3215.
Remember, these are all OUR children. They are and will be the future leaders of tomorrow, members of our communities, state and nation. An educated population benefits everyone.
