CHARLESTON, W.Va. − The West Virginia Education Association (WVEA), along with local parents, are suing the Putnam County Board of Education over the county’s COVID protocols. CHARLESTON, W.VA.The following remarks were made by WVEA President Dale Lee to the State Board of Education at their meeting on Wednesday, October 13 regarding COVID and a shortage of education employees.

Lee expressed concern to the Board that our educators are seeing a big jump in the number of students testing positive for COVID. “There is a real concern and fear in our schools for students, education employees, and their families,” Lee said.



WHEELING, W.Va. — West Virginia NAACP President Owens Brown has been appointed to the state Senate from the 1st District, Gov. Jim Justice announced. The district covers Brooke, Hancock, Ohio and part of Marshall.

Brown, 69, of Wheeling, is the first African American serving in the West Virginia Senate in over 30 years, and the first African American man ever to serve in the state Senate, according to Justice.
