End-of-Course Exam survey

You are here

How do you feel about the West Virginia Board of Education proposing end-of-course exams in high school and eliminating the Smarter Balanced assessment?

In addition to end-of-course exams, state board members approved a separate resolution to take a look at all assessments for grades 3 through 8. The state will issue a request for proposal (RFP) later this year to look at all available assessments and see what’s best for grades 3 through 8.

Although details are lacking, the end-of-course exams are slated to be fully implemented by 2018-2019, and replace the Smarter Balanced, but the policy language says the exams could begin in 2017-2018 “if possible.”
