HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Cabell County Schools has served 30,000 meals to students this summer and is on track for an additional 15,000 meals before school begins in about a month.
The numbers were highlighted during a ceremony Thursday in Huntington.
State Department of Education Executive Director of the Office of Child Nutrition Amanda Harrison called the number bitter-sweet.
“We’re very grateful for the work that Cabell Schools is doing and it’s a testament to their collaboration with community-based partners. It’s bitter in the sense there’s any need at all,” Harrison said.
