Ohio County supt., whose contract was not renewed, speaks out
WHEELING, W.Va - It's the first time we've seen her, since the Ohio County Board of Education voted not to renew her contract.
It wasn't a typical question-and-answer format. In fact, Dr. Dianna Vargo did not take questions, but she gave a prepared statement.
She started by thanking the dedicated teachers, administrators, service personnel and staff with whom she had been privileged to work.
"We can be proud of our contributions and especially our unwavering commitment to our students. Our parents should know that their children's futures are very bright. We're gratified to have worked tirelessly on behalf of our students. And we will continue to do so for the remainder of my tenure," said Dr. Vargo.
Last week, the board voted on Dr. Vargo's upcoming contract, deciding by a three-to-two margin...not to renew. They cited no reasons, except wanting to go in a "new direction."
Dr. Vargo is to work out the remainder of her current contract, which ends in June.
