A former member of the Harrison County Board of Education is returning to serve again.

Chuck Reider will fill the remaining five months of Mike Queen's term. Queen resigned last month in order to run for State Senate. Reider previously served a four-year term on the board. He chose not to run for the board in the upcoming June election, but hopes his experience in personnel and budget matters will make a difference in the next five months. He will be sworn in at the next board meeting.

"It makes me feel good that my peers respect me enough to ask me to come back and do that," Reider said. "I appreciate them having that kind of faith in me, and I'll do my best to make sure that we have a good, working board the next five months that I'm on it."

The board also honored the Class AA State Champion Robert C. Byrd cheerleaders on Tuesday.
